Canceling Your Subscription
Want to cancel your premium subscription? The process varies by platform, and missing the cancellation window means paying for another month. Here's how to cancel on Coomeet and other top platforms.
Why Reading the Cancellation Policy Matters
Video chat platforms design their billing to be sticky. Auto-renewal is the default, and the cancellation option is often buried several menus deep. Understanding the billing cycle before you subscribe is the only way to avoid surprises.
The most common trap is the trial period deadline. Many platforms offer a discounted first month or a free trial, then automatically convert you to a full-price subscription at the end of the trial. If you signed up for a "7-day free trial" on Coomeet, you have exactly 7 days to cancel before the first charge hits.
Billing date traps are equally common. If your subscription renews on the 20th of each month and you cancel on the 18th, you may still get charged because the cancellation didn't process before the renewal window. Most platforms require cancellation at least 3-5 days before the renewal date to stop the charge.
Always check the exact cutoff time listed in the subscription terms. When in doubt, cancel immediately after a billing cycle starts — that gives you the maximum time before the next charge.
How to Cancel on Coomeet
Coomeet provides a self-service cancellation option in account settings. Follow these steps to stop your subscription from renewing.
Step 1 — Log into your Coomeet account. Use the email and password you used when signing up for premium. If you've forgotten your password, use the password reset function before attempting cancellation.
Step 2 — Navigate to Account Settings. Click on your profile avatar in the top-right corner and select "Account Settings" from the dropdown menu.
Step 3 — Open Subscriptions. In the left sidebar or tabbed menu, find and click "Subscriptions." This page shows your active subscription, billing date, and renewal status.
Step 4 — Click "Cancel Auto-Renew." Look for the cancellation link. On Coomeet it reads "Cancel Auto-Renew" — clicking it stops future charges while keeping your premium access active through the end of the current billing period.
Step 5 — Confirm the cancellation. You'll receive a confirmation email. Keep this for your records in case a charge appears despite your cancellation.
For help with refund requests after cancellation, see our refund guide. If you purchased a one-time minute package rather than a subscription, that balance remains yours regardless of subscription cancellation.
How to Cancel on Other Platforms
Each platform has its own cancellation flow. While the general steps are similar, the menu names and depths vary.
Chatrandom: Log in, go to Profile > Settings > Billing > click "Cancel Subscription." Chatrandom requires cancellation at least 5 days before the renewal date. The process is straightforward, but their cancellation button can be easy to miss — look for it at the bottom of the billing page.
Shagle: Similar flow: Profile > Settings > Subscription > Cancel. Shagle's cancellation page is in Account Preferences under the Payments tab. Their cutoff is also 5 days before renewal.
Ome.tv: Ome.tv does not have a self-service cancellation page. You need to submit a cancellation request through their support ticket system at [email protected]. Response times vary from 24-72 hours, so submit your request well before the renewal date.
Emerald Chat: Cancellation is handled via the user dashboard under Account > Subscription Management. Emerald Chat does not offer refunds for partial periods.
What Happens to Remaining Premium Minutes
The fate of your remaining minutes depends on how you purchased them. There are two distinct scenarios.
One-time minute purchases: If you bought a block of minutes (e.g., 100 minutes for $19.99) separate from a subscription, those minutes are yours until you spend them. They do not expire unless the platform's policy explicitly states an expiration date. Check your account balance after canceling — it should reflect the unused portion.
Subscription-based minutes: If your minutes are allocated monthly as part of a subscription (e.g., "500 minutes per month included"), those minutes are reset or revoked when the subscription ends. Any unused minutes from the current month typically expire at the billing cycle's end.
Some platforms operate on a "use it or lose it" policy for monthly minute allocations. Others carry unused minutes forward for a limited time (usually 30 days). Know your platform's specific policy before canceling — it's frustrating to lose minutes you thought were still active.
Timing Your Cancellation to Avoid Billing
Cancellation timing is everything. Cancel too late and you're charged for another month. Cancel too early and you may lose access to premium features before you've gotten full value.
Know your cutoff date. Most platforms require cancellation at least 3-5 days before the renewal date. "At least 3 days" is the minimum safe window — going through cancellation on the 2 days before renewal is cutting it close and may not process in time.
Track your billing anniversary. After subscribing, note the exact day and time your subscription renews. Set a reminder on your phone or calendar 7 days before that date. That gives you a full week to handle cancellation without rushing.
Cancel immediately after a billing cycle if you want maximum remaining access. If your subscription renews on the 20th and you cancel on the 21st, you keep access for another full month. That's the ideal time to cancel if you've decided you don't want to continue.
